RENUKA LAKE

Renuka lake is in the Sirmaur district of himachal pradesh in india . It is the largest natural lake in himachal pradesh, with circumference of about 3214 metresRenuka lake is in the 672mtrs. above the sea level. A zoo is there at renuka . This lake was named after the godess renuka. She  was the mother of Parshuram.  Therare so many stories related to the establishment of Renuka ji temple and lake  according to 'Bhargav Puran' Renuka was the mother of Bhagwan Parshuram. According to the story after the death of her husband 'Jamdgni Rishi' she left her body into this lake. And the lake got it's name 'Renuka Lake'.

RENUKA JI TEMPLE 

located at the base of the Renuka lake. Renuka and it is a famous tample in India Renuka ji is the wife of the Rishi Jamdagni and the mother of parshuram, one of the ten 'Avatars' of lord VISHNU. The temple has it's own beauty.  The outside length of the temple is approximately Two kilometers. People do 'Parikrma' of the temple. Parikrama is roaming around the temple.  There are also temples of Lord krishna and other God and Goddesses there. 



Boating

In the lake boating is also allowed. We can travel the whole lake with the help of the boat. In the lake we can see turtles, a large number of fishes and other water animals.  


Zoo

When we roam around the temple we get Zoo  around there. This zoo include many animals. It includes the Rain deer, Lion,Leopard, Beer, and other forest animals. This zoo also includes many types of birds like hill crow, scarlet minivet, bulbul etc.
Renukaji Zoo is the oldest zoo in Himachal Pradesh. It was started in 1957 with rescued, stray and deserted wild animals. The first animal brought here was a male spotted deer named Moti. To accommodate the increasing number of animals, an open park was conceived and the park was established in 1983. Black buck and nilgai were brought from Pipli Zoo.A pair of lions was brought to the zoo from Zunagarh in 1975.


Wetland 

 The government of Himachal Pradesh gave the renuka lake a new name or identification as' The Wetland '. Because the water of the lake is getting lower day by day. So the official name of this lake is Wetland of Renuka. 


Renuka Fair

 Renuka Fair is an international level fair. It took place at the month of September or October. It mostly took place after the eleven or twelve days from  Diwali. In the Hindu Events this day is called 'Gyas', this is the first day or an opening day of the Renuka Fair . On the first day the idol of Parashurama is taken in a decorated silver palanquin from the Jamu village to the banks of the Giri River. The other local deities reach the spot before he does, and then together they go to the site of the fair (with Parashurama leading the jing-bang, of course). and then festivities continue. 
The fair goes almost 7-10 days. The fair includes many stalls of traditional foods, clothes and jewelries. There are night programs also, in which the traditional dance call 'Nati' is the biggest source of attraction. In the night programs many traditional songs and folks took place.


Geographical condition


Renuka is situated in the hills of Himachal Pradesh. The hills of this place is not so much high. It is about 672mtrs above the sea level. The trees of this area called the 'Pine' trees. 


Renuka Sanctuary 


The Renuka Sanctuary is a nature sanctuary. It is situated in Sirmour district in Himachal Pradesh. The sanctuary is connected to a network of roads. The sanctuary covers about 4.028 square kilometres. The sanctuary is Renuka Reserve Forest and has been declared Abhayaranya.[clarification needed] An area of roughly about 3 square kilometres that lies outside the sanctuary has been declared as a buffer area.


Situated 

 Renuka Ji is situated in the district Sirmaur Himachal Pradesh. The place Renuka ji is approximately 35 kilometres far away from the district headquarters 'Nahan'. On the way to Renuka ji there are some viewable places like Dhosdka, Jamta, Bedhulai, Dadaahu etc.
